Summerhill Pyramid Winery, located in Kelowna BC, since 1991, is Canada’s biggest certified organic winery, BC’s first Demeter certified biodynamic vineyard, and an iconic Canadian sparkling wine producer. The Cipes family also owns the Sunset Organic Bistro, a 200-seat organic restaurant with fresh, seasonal wine matched meals and a panoramic view of Okanagan Lake.”
They set out to create the most beautiful wines in the world, beginning with organically and biodynamically grown grapes from the pristine Okanagan Valley, treating them with love and attention, allowing them to ferment naturally to retain the highest levels of antioxidants, and finishing the wines in their Pyramid Cellar built with precision Sacred Geometry and aligned to the stars to create a structurally sound structure.
Biodiversity is important in organic farming. They must encourage nature to fill ecological niches and preserve equilibrium in their vineyards because they do not employ any synthetics. They provide a habitat for beneficial insects such as ladybugs and praying mantises by enabling blooming plants to grow between the rows. The natural flora also helps to enhance soil life and water retention, both of which are key factors in growing excellent grapes!

Since the Cipes family bought the Kelowna vineyard in 1986, organic winemaking methods have been an important component of Summerhill. Organic wine production offers a significant environmental advantage, and some experts believe that eating organic foods has a significant health benefit as well.
Aside from these advantages, they feel that organic techniques allow the grapes in the vines to truly reflect their environment, resulting in profound, terroir-driven characteristics that are a true expression of Okanagan terroir.
Their goal is to make all Canadians proud. They are overjoyed to have seen this vision come to fruition, with their portfolio of Cipes sparkling wines and Summerhill red, white, and icewines receiving some of the wine world’s highest accolades, including trophies and gold medals from France and England, as well as a special trophy naming Summerhill “Canadian Wine Producer of the Year” at the International Wine & Spirit Competition.
Summerhill is dedicated to creating only organic wine. The vineyard in Kelowna began the certification process in 1988 and earned Demeter Biodynamic certification in 2012. Furthermore, the winemaking is certified organic, allowing them to show the Canadian certified organic mark on their bottles, assuring everyone that a high degree of quality and purity can be expected.
